Incident Support Team Vacancy Solicitation

Due to existing vacancies, the National Urban Search and Rescue (US&R) Response System (the System) is soliciting to fill the following Incident Support Team (IST) Standing Roster positions:

  • Resource Unit Leader

  • Division/Group Supervisor

In accordance with PD 2012-015 – Incident Support Team Administration; interested individuals (including current IST members interested in one of these positions) shall submit their application by 17:00 EST on May 24, 2024.  Using the submission link on IST Solicitation | responsesystem.org the application and letter of support should be filled out and submitted.  Interested qualified personnel need to be on an existing IST Standing Roster or IST Alternate List.  This is not the annual IST solicitation process; this is to fill existing standing roster vacancies.

Candidates should review the current US&R Operations Manual Annex E – Position Descriptions to ensure a complete understanding of the roles and responsibilities of the posted positions.  Candidates shall use the provided application and include the following elements related to the position applied for: education and training (do not include US&R general training requirements); response experience in Type 1, 2, or 3 incidents (include incident, date, and position filled); and miscellaneous activities (e.g., participation in national or regional work groups or committees; development of programs at the department, regional, or at the national level; and other relevant activities).  Please keep the provided application document simple, the most important factor is the substance of the three elements mentioned above.
